Josh Wastvedt will begin his first season as Head Boys' Volleyball Coach of the Burnsville Blaze. Coach Wastvedt has been coaching for the past 15 seasons in programs ranging from middle school to the collegiate level. Wastvedt is also the Head Girls' Volleyball Coach for Burnsville High School.

Before moving to Minnesota, Coach Wastvedt finished his second season as the Head Coach at Garrison-Max High Schools in Central North Dakota. Wastvedt turned around their program in just two short seasons. The Troopers took home their first Region 5 Tournament trophy in his first season (2017) placing 4th and beginning a new tradition at Garrison-Max. His team took home their first Varsity Regular Season Tournament Championship that year as well. Wastvedt was the Region 5 Coach of the Year Runner-Up as well as a North Dakota Class "B" Volleyball Coach of the Year Finalist. The following season (2018) the Troopers placed 3rd in the Region 5 Tournament, which is the highest program finish in history, as well as earned a #3 seed into the Region 5 Tournament, another program best. Through his time at Garrison-Max, Wastvedt's team and individual players broke every single-season and career record previously held.

Wastvedt also has been involved as a camp coach at various volleyball programs such as the University of Texas, North Dakota State University, and the University of Jamestown.

Prior to Garrison-Max, Wastvedt was the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at NJCAA Division 2 Bismarck State College. Wastvedt worked alongside head coach, Jeni Walsh, to lead the Mystics to back-to-back West Region Championships and two Region XIII Runner-Up finishes. The Mystics consistently ranked in the top 20 defensively and was one of the best blocking teams as well.

Wastvedt was the Head Volleyball Coach at Williston High School in Western North Dakota from 2012 to 2015, where his teams competed in the North Dakota Class "A" State Qualifier Match in the West Region Tournament his last two seasons, coming up short both years.

Wastvedt coached for 5 seasons at Central Valley High School in Eastern North Dakota from 2007 to 2011 and was the Head Coach the final three seasons. Wastvedt took his young program from one of the lower ranked seeds into post-season play to one of the toughest programs in the state. Through his time at CV, Wastvedt's team and individual players broke every single-season and career record previously held. In Wastvedt's final season with the Valiants, his team played for the District 3 Championship and qualified for the Region 2 Tournament. Wastvedt was an AVCA National High School Coach of the Year nominee.

Wastvedt began his coaching straight out of high school and coached for two years at Hatton-Northwood High Schools in Eastern North Dakota. Wastvedt was the Assistant Varsity Coach both seasons, and served as the 8th Grade Coach in 2005 and C-Squad Coach in 2006. In 2005, the Thunder played for the District 3 and Region 2 Championship.

On top of coaching, Wastvedt competes in adult tournaments and works in Early Childhood.
