MN BOYS HSVB LEAGUE - COMBINED SCHOOLS AND SINGLE PLAYER INFORMATION

ALL SINGLE PLAYERS - PLEASE NOTE BELOW

SINGLE PLAYER PLACEMENT IS NOT A GUARANTEE TO PLAY OR A TYPICAL SIGN UP TO PLAY PROCESS.  UNLESS YOUR SCHOOL HAS A TEAM OR IS CO-OP'd WITH ANOTHER SCHOOL YOU WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED TO PLAY.

NOTE:   INCREASED PARTICIPATION AT EACH SCHOOL, COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS AND PRECAUTIONS WITH YOUTH SPORTS WILL MAKE IT INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT   TO PLACE SINGLE PLAYERS THIS YEAR.

THERE IS A GREATER CHANCE that many single players will NOT be able to be placed by MN Boys HS and/or accepted by a school program for the 2022 season.

YOUR BEST CHANCE TO PLAY - MAKE YOUR OWN TEAM AT YOUR SCHOOL

APPLICATION WINDOW OPENS FEBRUARY 1ST, 2022.

COMBINED SCHOOLS & SINGLE PLAYER POLICIES

SUPER TEAM POLICY:  The MN Boys HS VB Association does not want to create or allow “super teams” (see definition below).  MN Boys will have sole discretion in determining which schools will be allowed to combine and where single players will be placed on an annual basis.  “SUPER TEAMS” WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

SUPER TEAMS:   Volleyball programs heavily weighted with rogue Junior Club VB players from multiple school districts.  Mn Boys HS VB Board will have sole discretion as to what is deemed a “Super Team”. Super Teams will not be eligible for the MN Boys HS VB state tournament.

COMBINED SCHOOL POLICY:  Schools will be allowed to combine with other schools in closest proximity in order to field teams.  Schools wishing to combine with another school will seek approval from the MN Boys HSVB Assn to do so.  Schools must be within general proximity or adjacent to each other to be considered.

SINGLE PLAYER POLICY:  Players that are interested in playing boys high school volleyball,  but their high school does NOT have a program, or is NOT COMBINED with another school to field a program, can apply for possible placement on a league team.  MN Boys High School Volleyball Association will review applications and decide if an existing high school program has a need for an additional SINGLE PLAYER.

WISCONSIN PLAYER POLICY:   PLAYERS ATTENDING WISCONSIN SCHOOLS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY ON A MINNESOTA HIGH SCHOOL TEAM.

Single Player Requirements & Guidelines

MN Boys will make every effort to place all SINGLE PLAYERS based on the location, program need, and program’s willingness to accept additional players.  Multiple SINGLE PLAYERS from the same school will need to play in the same program.

Please note the following requirements and guidelines before filling out an application:

  1. PLACEMENT IS NOT GUARANTEED.  The best way to guarantee play in the boy's high school volleyball league is to work to establish a team at your own school.  Please contact MN Boys HS VB if you have questions or need help establishing a new program.  Also refer to the Guide to Starting a Team document.

  2. SINGLE PLAYERS MUST BE ATTENDING A MINNESOTA SCHOOL TO PLAY IN THE MN BOYS HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE.  Unfortunately, Mn Boys cannot place Single Player Students from other states with Mn School Programs.

  3. COACHES AND PLAYERS DO NOT DECIDE SCHOOL PLACEMENTS.   They must contact MN Boys HS VB and ALL situations must be approved by the MN Boys HS VB League.

  4. MN BOYS HS VB WILL NOT PLACE PLAYERS THAT ARE CUT FROM THEIR OWN HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM.

  5. IF A PLAYER'S SCHOOL HAS A BOYS VB PROGRAM, THE PLAYER/S  ARE REQUIRED TO TRYOUT AND PLAY FOR THEIR SCHOOL.

MN Boys HSVB Assn will decide placement as per the following criteria:

  • Nearest Location, then Program Need for Additional Players, then “Super Team” status.  Coaches/players will NOT decide placements.

  • Multiple SINGLE PLAYERS from the same school MUST play together at the same school assigned program.

  • NOTE: A registered high school program does NOT have to accept single players.

2022 SINGLE PLAYER APPLICATION & PROCESSING

SINGLE PLAYER APPLICATION  (OPEN FEBRUARY 1ST-MARCH 1ST):
MARCH 1ST, IS THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR SINGLE PLAYER PLACEMENT.
